Lesson 2 True White

This is less a lesson because I want to teach you the ins & outs of creating a white horse & what a white horse is, & more because of my love for the color & how I get mad when I see a horse mislabeled white.

A true white horse is not a grey that has whitened with age its very different. a grey horse is born it's true color (bay, black, chestnut, palomino, buckskin........) & then as it ages turns white. A grey horse will have dark skin except under white markings. A white horse is born white the color never changes. White horses have pink skin, the eye color may very but is normally brown or hazel & can sometimes be blue although I believe that a blue eyed white is rare. Some of you may think I'm talking about albinos but there no albino in horses, any horse called a albino is in fact a mislabeled white. White or Dominant White horses can in fact have color similar to a extensive sabino but genetically they are White. For the Sims I would suggest that you keep Dominant White horses white as using the sabino patterned White may get a little messy when breding & so that you wont have problems getting a White registered.

please read on.....

In Real Life Whites should never be bred together as it is thought that Homogeneous White is Embryonic Lethal similar to Lethal White Syndrome in Overos where a foal out of two Overos is sure to die shortly after birth, The foal from two white will most likely die long before its born. But in the Sims you wont ever have this problem, & for those of you trying to keep it realistic now you know.

How To Create a White Horse:
(color charts at bottom)
A white horse is one of the easiest colors to create in the Sims as It only has three layers.
1). The base layer needs to be White, now the colors that EA has as preset colors can work but there "white" is not true white. The Hoof color should be light.
2). Now you must add the first layer, this will be the muzzle of the horse & is the second in the list for head & should be the same color as the hoof.

3). You need to add a new layer this will another Muzzle layer this time the first one on the list for head, this needs to be pink
4). You will need to add a new layer this will be the last one needed for the coat, This is the belly there is only one in this section so you'll have no problem finding it, this should be the color as the hoof
5). The mane, Tail & any Feathering on the horse should be white for the horse to truly be white, The eyes should be brown, hazel & on rare occasions blue.

As you can see a white or grey coat can easily be redone to create the other.
